There are five areas in the Nottingham City Boundary that require you to be issued with a permit in order to distribute free printed material. <\/SPAN><\/P>

'Free printed matter' includes amongst other things: <\/SPAN><\/P>

  • Newspapers<\/SPAN><\/P><\/LI>

  • Leaflets<\/SPAN><\/P><\/LI>

  • Pamphlets<\/SPAN><\/P><\/LI>

  • Cards<\/SPAN><\/P><\/LI>

  • Stickers<\/SPAN><\/P><\/LI>

  • Food<\/SPAN><\/P><\/LI>

  • Drinks<\/SPAN><\/P><\/LI>

  • Printed matter is free if it is distributed without charge to the persons who receive it.<\/SPAN><\/P><\/LI><\/UL>

    You do not need permission if the printed material is being distributed:<\/SPAN><\/P>

    • In letterboxes<\/SPAN><\/P><\/LI>

    • Inside a building, bus or taxi<\/SPAN><\/P><\/LI>

    • On behalf of a charity<\/SPAN><\/P><\/LI>

    • For political or religious purposes or other beliefs<\/SPAN><\/P><\/LI><\/UL>

      As well as the five areas requiring a permit, there is a further restriction relating to Old Market Square: you cannot distribute leaflets in the Old Market Square unless you are doing so as part of a promotional booking.       You may get a fixed penalty up to £150, or a fine up to £2,500 and a criminal record, if you distribute printed material without a licence or break the rules of your licence. Your licence may be cancelled.<\/SPAN><\/P>
