Description: Traffic Signals, also known as 'traffic lights', control traffic at many junctioins and are also used at 'standalone' crossings for pedestrians & cyclists such as 'Pelican', 'Puffin' & 'Toucans'. The data shows the location of these junctions & crossings with wach node identified by a unique, area-based SCN No. e.g. J12345, used by the Traffic Control Centre for fault processing and for UTC control of the signal timings. The data was developed around the time of the creation of the new Nottingham Urban Traffic Control (UTC) Centre in 1974 to allow quick & efficient fault processing for safe, accurate implementation of UTC control.
