Description: Location of highways bridges, structures and retaining walls in the City of Nottingham, along with name of owner. Service Tunnel: Tunnel where various utilities (Gas, Electric, provide connections) are enclosed. Retaining Wall: A wall built to support or prevent the advance of a mass of earth or water.HB Rating: All bridges are designed or assessed for ‘construction and use traffic' (C&U) which is a defined set of maximum axle loads and spacings up to 40/44 tonnes on 6 axles. If a bridge fails the 40 tonnes assessment loading then it is given a weight restriction applicable to the next reduced load level it passes, i.e. 33 tonnes, 26 tonnes, 18 tonnes etc.If the bridge passes the 40 tonne assessment loading then the HB or abnormal load rating is calculated. This is then used in routing abnormal loads (e.g. cranes) through the city network. An abnormal load is any load which does not comply with C&U, e.g. a 20 tonne vehicle on 2 axles would not comply with C&U, and would be classed as abnormal as the loading exceeds what is permitted on two axles. Abnormal loads have to be notified to the highway authority 48hrs before they move.

Description: Gritting routes are highways that are salted when icy or snowy weather is forecast. They are based upon the amount and character of traffic that would normally be expected to use the route. The routes for Nottingham City presently include all major routes, important bus and commuter routes, and known trouble spots (primary gritting routes). The routes for the county includes main routes, severe weather routes and Highways Agency (A1plus) routes.
Description: Pedestrian zones are composed of selected footpaths and bridges, and may be put into operation when the threat of severe weather is very certain, and the weather before the event allows the treatment to be effective, i.e. not washed off / blown away, (this action is subject to staff availability and any salt conservation action).
Description: A MIB is an "A" shaped steel frame used to deter motorcycles and quad bikes from accessing public footpaths and bridleways and other public places. The design allows the majority of mobility vehicles as well as cyclists to get through while discouraging unauthorised use.

Description: The paths dataset details the location of pathways and non-vehicular routes throughout Nottingham City and the D2N2 area. The pathways may variously be alleyways, paths across green and open spaces, canal and river towpaths, cycle paths, stairs, fords or any other identifiable paths. This dataset displays all paths as the same however there are two ways to identify the type of Path:Surface Type - Defines the makeup of the path whether it is made or unmadeForm Of Way - Shows where the path is a footbridge, subway, ford, stairs etc. This data is provided by Ordnance Survey and is part of the wider OS MasterMap Highways Network product family.
Description: This dataset details the location of pathways and non-vehicular routes throughout Nottingham City and some of the surrounding areas. The pathways may variously be alleyways, paths across green and open spaces, canal and river towpaths, cycle paths, Public Rights of Way, or any other identifiable paths. Also identified within the attribute information ('Path Feature' field) are features that may have an impact on mobility: including steps, subways, footbridges and archways. It also contains information for both definitive and proposed Public Rights of Way: this being a digital representation of the information in the Definitive Map and Statement which is the Council's legal register of where the public have a right to walk or ride and in some cases use a motorised vehicle. You should always refer to Nottingham City Council's Definitive Map and Statement for exact information on the alignment and status of any Public Right of Way. As well as detailing where the paths are, the attribute data contained within this dataset also includes information on characteristics such as: Path type; Path name and/or description; Public Right of Way details; Length of path or path section; Any associated website details etc.
Description: This data shows the path route of an application for a modification order which requests that the council make an order to record the claimed route on the definitive map and statement. It can be viewed alongside the Public Rights of Way layer, and allows the Council or Public to check if a route is public or currently subject to a claim. Statutory basis: Under Schedule 14 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 anyone may make an application to a Council “claiming” that a route is public right of way. The applicant requests that the Council should make (and confirm) a Modification Order to add the claimed route to its definitive map and statement, which is the legal record of public rights of way. These applications are supported by evidence of public use and / or documentary evidence such as old maps, books and / or other material.
